PirateFest, now in its 19th year, is a giant indoor baseball carnival for the entire family.

It features live events, free autograph sessions, prizes, games, youth baseball clinics, pierogi eating contests, the Pirate Parrot and much more.

Everyone coming to PirateFest will have the opportunity to buy 2009 Pirates individual game tickets prior to going on sale to the general public.

All attendees receive a PirateFest program when they enter with event/daily schedules and more.

Current and former Pirates players scheduled to attend include, among many others, Nate McLouth, Freddy Sanchez, Paul Maholm, Matt Capps, Doug Drabek, Dave Parker, Jay Bell and Omar Moreno.

"Hey, Jay. Pirates front office here. We're sorry you just got voted off the HOF ballot. But.....

"Whaddayasay we make it up to you by flying you out to lovely Pittsburgh in the middle of January for our completely unnecessarily effed-up (aka Serkoched) 'fan' fest where we herd our 'fans' hoping for an autograph or *gasp* a smile from their favorite Pirates 'star' into a single line that puts any Cedar Point or Six Flags roller coaster to shame, make them stand there for hours on end, and have our 'spirit squad,' the Canonball Crew (they're sponsored by Canon.... get it?) get the crowd all fired up by yelling encouragement such as 'THE PLAYERS WILL ONLY SIGN ONE THING!' and 'NO PHOTOS WITH THE PLAYERS!' once our 'fans' reach the front of the line.

"One more thing, Jay. It's also right in the middle of Pirates fantasy camp, so any hope that you might actually be playing some baseball in sunny Florida in late January is completely gone, along with any other Pirates 'greats.' They won't be there either. We did manage to dupe Drabek in to coming. Parker will be there too. We hear he wants to be a coach reeeeeeally bad, but he won't go to fantasy camp unless we pay his 5-figure appearance fee for the week. Guess he doesn't want to be a coach all that badly, does he? Sure, Moreno will be there for the first time, but until a couple hours ago, I thought he was dead. Shows what I know!
