Four-time twenty-game winner Dave Stewart will serve as the keynote speaker for the 10th Annual Modesto Nuts Sports Banquet. Proceeds from the event will benefit the YMCA of Stanislaus County. The sports banquet will be held on Monday, August 14th at the YMCA on McHenry Avenue. The annual Sports Banquet includes a silent and live auction of sports and entertainment memorabilia.

Stewart enjoyed a 16-year Major League career as one of the most intimidating pitchers in Major League Baseball. Stewart finished his career with 168 victories and a 3.95 ERA. Stewart was the ace of the great Oakland Athletics’ teams of the late 1980s that made three straight World Series appearances. Stewart is now a player-agent based in San Diego.

“We are very excited to have Dave Stewart as our keynote speaker,†said Modesto Nuts general manager Mike Gorrasi. “He’s always been a fan-favorite and we look forward to another great event.â€

To date, the Modesto Nuts annual sports banquet has raised over $100,000 for community programs for children. Past keynote speakers include: Baseball Hall of Fame members Tommy Lasorda and Bob Feller, Oakland Athletics General Manager Billy Beane, Oakland Athletics broadcaster Ray Fosse, San Francisco Giants broadcaster Duane Kuiper and San Diego Padres executive Sandy Alderson.

The YMCA of Stanislaus County has a long-standing tradition of never turning anyone away because of an inability to pay. The proceeds from this event will enable the YMCA to continue its scholarship programs that ensure every child and family has an opportunity to participate in programs, designed to bring about a healthier lifestyle and environment. Your help with this annual event is needed to continue the YMCA’s important work of “building strong kids, strong families and strong communitiesâ€.

Tickets are available for $45 by calling the YMCA of Stanislaus County, (209) 578-9622. The ticket price includes admission to the event, including the silent and live auction, and a catered dinner by Tony Roma’s.
