Has anyone gone to the annual Baseball Writers Association Awards dinner in NYC before to get autographs? It is this Sunday evening and the tickets are $225 a piece. There are some really big names attending, so I wanted to know if anyone has paid the cash to attend the event and how's it run. Please post any prior experiences or send me a PM. I'd appreciate it! Thanks.

Hey, Do you have a list of the attendees, Or perhaps just some of the names, I may want to attend, Let me know if you can, Thanks

The annual New York BBWAA dinner will be Jan. 27 at the New York Hilton in Manhattan.

It’s a great event. The winners of the annual BBWAA awards (MVP, Cy Young, etc.) attend along with other big names from the world of baseball. Those scheduled to attend this year include Alex Rodriguez, Jimmy Rollins, C.C. Sabathia, Jake Peavy, Dustin Pedroia, Ryan Braun, Eric Wedge, Bob Melvin, Jonathan Papelbon, Johnny Damon, Billy Wagner, Joba Chamberlain, Bobby Murcer, Denny McLain and Craig Biggio.

The Hall of Fame selections usually show up along with the managers and GMs of the Yankees and Mets.

I am thinking about going since I will be back at school...depends on the weather though

anyone trying to graph this event inside or outside the hotel? $225 + gas is alot.

Holy...amazing list of guests. Are autographs guaranteed?

No...but they say the players will "try" to be accomadating. I will probably work outside the hotel and try to sneak my way on in. If I get one of em it will make the train ride worth it. We shall see...

Definetely worth the time, any one of these guys are pretty big names. I didn't know if it was like the Boston Dinner where they alott time for autographs.

I wouldn't waste your time or gas money if you are going to just graph outside, as it is going to be a zoo. All of the dealers and hounds in New York and New Jersey are going to be out in full force, and I do not see ARod or Biggio stopping to sign for them on the way into the hotel. If you are willing to fork over the $225, well thats a different story...

so has anyone gone to this before??
