SportsFest in Chicago

They are high, but I don't know if that would work. If they are charging those prices they are probably careful not to leave and "table scrap" autographs lying around. Also most of those players would not be at a hotel since most of them are White Sox and it is in Chicago.

That is true but you never know. Hotel and Airport autographs are usually the best route. I don't understand paying 100 for current players. I have so many Jermaine Dye autographs I don't know what to do with them

Agree/ Disagree

I agree and disagree with the people on this thread. I have been going to every Chicago autograph show for about 8 years now and getting left over scraps around the event in next to impossible unless you are a cop. players and former players when they leave in limos and such will often sign Police Tickets for the cops doing their secruity like i saw Urlacher do for the cops that helped him get out front to his limo. I do agree the $$$$ for this show is SKY HIGH. That is why so far all I am getting is a Game Model Bat signed by Jim Thome who i believe is a HOF'er. Also will be getting Gordie Howe to sign a puck for $100. I think thats a great deal for it. He use to not be able to sign anything but his book and bobblehead due to his devil wife. The whitesox were cheaper last summer when at the show: Jenks-$25. Podsednik-$25 and someone else. Thats when i got some WS Stuff signed. I agree hotels would prob be an ok bet with some of the people. All the NFL Prospect prices are INSANE

So to get the current Sox players that are appearing at this show would cost roughly $1100!!! Does a season ticket to Comiskey even cost that much? I know a spring traing trip to Tucson doesn't. Unbelievable considering I have gotten each of these guy for free in the past and have seen guys like Anderson, Ozuna sign page after page for the same person. I know the Sox just won the WS and their are a ton of suckers in Chicago, but they are all Cubs fans right? Who buys this stuff?

the people who buy this stuff are rich white people who are front runners for WS Winners. That is why their stadium is filled for every game now. When they were the best team in baseball last year I went to 10 games very easily

LOL - very telling comment and probably true...

Basically the people that buy it are people either too lazy or don't have time or have no clue how to get autographs in person. Unfortunately this has become big business for the companies that put on these signings, and is one of the reasons some players don't sign for fans, because why do something for free that they can get paid for? All in all, you can thank companies like Steiner to ruin the hobby for the kids and diehard collectors, and put it in the hands of the upper class people who really don't care about the autograph and only want something to flash to their golfing buddies.

why would you pay for jim thome he is a good signer and even gives a good autograph. I could see if his autograph was terrible so you pay for a nice auto at a show, but his autograph is good and he is a decently easy signer.
