You think if he makes the roster he'll still sit on the bench for a couple weeks, to a month, and have Zaun start during that period?

Absolutely not true. MacPhail has said many times Wieters won't be rushed(he mentions Wieters has only played 2 months above the single A level), and the vast majority of reports have him starting in Norfolk. For arbitration reasons it's unlikely he makes the OD roster. He should be up in May.

if he makes the OD roster he will be the STARTER... You're right he will not sit behind Zuan. Zaun was a CHEAPER insurance policy than Pudge or Varitek or insert other high dollar FA here.... They will not tell the Press what there plan are. there not gonna tell him in January (actually last october/Nov, when it was decided) that he's the starter, but Unless he has a Meltdown in ST he WILL be the opening day starter. YOu can post all you want, but I know what i know, and feel free to post "I told you so" when he's starts in AAA. If he hits in ST anything like he did in AFL or 2008 he willbe given the keys to the car.

Hey, if you can show me one example of Andy MacPhail telling a lie in the papers I'll agree with you. He withholds information a lot, but doesn't lie.
You can go with what you heard from this phantom source, but it makes zero sense for the Orioles to have Wieters on the opening day roster. He is a Boras client that will be tough to re-sign, and is under our control for an extra year if they wait a month. Maybe your source is right and the Orioles are going to completely mismanage the situation, as your source told you apparently 3 months ago, but I don't see it happening.

You're off base on a bunch of points... I never said MacPhail Lied to the press... He is telling the truth. He may even start Matt in AAA for contract reasons, but my "phantom" sources (Yes, MULTIPLE, and credible) told me he will be the everyday catcher this year and Zaun is an "insurance policy" in case he has a meltdown ealry and just 'forgets' how to swing a bat (or gets hurt).
I'm not gonna argue this point on a message board, but it you had any experience in the DC/Balt area, you know my "phantom sources" and my 'street cred' are pretty strong...

I don't think he argued the fact that Matt is going to be the every day catcher this year, most everyone is assuming that. Just the part about him making the OD roster out of ST and starting from day one of the season.
