This is typical most of the kids on these boards only care about whats "Hot" right now. Not a Hall of famer in waiting.
I hope you guys get your A.I. stuff signed and all-- but to be honest, A.I. was a pretty overrated player...

Sure he scored a ton of points and cross-over'd Jordan and stepped over Tyronn Lue in the Finals.... But, he was pretty much a SG in a PG's body... He couldn't play with any other star player and be successful because he was a ball dominant, selfish player that couldn't play off the ball or posses any true PG skills.... I mean he put up almost 100 more field goal attempts in a single season than Jordan... All the while not winning a damn thing... Did take his team to the finals during the weakest season ever for the Eastern Conference back in '01 I believe... Had to take out the Bucks in 7 game.. THE BUCKS for goodness sakes !!!!

Whereas you look at Durant and you see something there.... Something that could very well evolve into that elite level... Not that selfish, can't win anything level that Iverson showed for 14 seasons...

Durant looks to be cut from a different cloth... Plus, everyone knows how Iverson's career turned out (train wreck)... Not only that, but not many even associate Iverson's inability to win a championship along the same lines of a Barkley, Malone, Stockon, Ewing, Miller etc... Why ? Because they're real legends that didn't win anything in an era that was superior.... Iverson couldn't get Philly anywhere because all he did was score...

That being said, he was a fine player... He did sign a ton (especially at the arena) during his career and he really was pretty good about doing it at the hotel later in his career... Durant is a good signer now too and folks with access to NBA players still have their chance to get him, whereas Iverson could be on his way out.... But, if I'm going to put money down for an autograph from one of the two, it's Durant all day, because he still has a chance to become what Iverson could never be....

True.. As I mentioned he did take his team to the finals for a token appearance (thanks to Vince Carter for snagging his degree at UNC to help A.I. in the process... But that's neither here nor there)...However, perhaps if he was anything more than a ball hog he might of actually accomplished some things that would warrant making him a true all time great....The guy couldn't get his team past a Jason Kidd and Keith Van Horn Nets squad for two seasons....

I guess all it will take for Durant is to get one title, cause I'm pretty sure that's just one more than Iverson can take credit for....

Where's the love for my boy Todd Mac............Iverson did have his services that year as well.

Kevin Durant is only 21 and possesses a skill set and size you can't teach. It's a combination that makes him both unstoppable and geared for a long career. As fearless as Iverson was, he was always flawed and undersized. He got beat up a lot and because he never shot a great percentage from outside, he had to bang against bigger players which caused a lot of injuries and really shortened his career.

I admire Iverson for his grit, but he never won anything. Not at Georgetown, not at Philly, and not with Team USA. At the very least, Durant took Team USA on his back and won a tournament USA hadn't won in close to 20 years. An Iverson led Olympics team flopped and had one of the worst performances ever for an American basketball team. Once again, Iverson was a talented and gutsy player but flawed. He was definitely an all star, but his image/reputation/street cred earned him much more respect than he deserved.

iverson never had a star, he didnt leave with to join other stars like lebron or bosh. iverson gets a bad ball hog rap, when the fact was he was forced to throw up so many shots since his teams offense was him and nobody else. i dont see a championship parade in oaklahoma anytime soon

It goes far beyond his skills as a player. Iverson was an icon. When he was in his prime, there was no bigger star in all of sports. For a while, he inherited Jordan's mantle as a brand name, not just an NBA player.

Ya know Todd didn't really become legendary until he got to New Jersey---- and there's really only one reason for that...

Well said, sir.

He couldn't play with anyone, man....He gets glossed a ball hog because, well, he was... He had minimal PG skills... Limited court vision and could not run an offense...

He could face up, use a screen and then cross over a defender and either A. Shoot the ball or B. draw contact to get to the line.... All he did was hold the ball and stall an offense because he couldn't do anything else....

It's no coincidence a team like the Nuggets took off when they traded his ass to Detroit and got a real PG and (((WINNER))) in Chauncey Billups to run their offense...

It goes far beyond his skills as a player. Iverson was an icon. When he was in his prime, there was no bigger star in all of sports. For a while, he inherited Jordan's mantle as a brand name, not just an NBA player.
Iverson was a streetball player playing in the NBA...

He catered to a different crowd... To even mention Jordan in the same sentence with A.I. is total disrespect... While a guy like Iverson was "getting buckets" a guy like Duncan was getting rings and building a legit Hall of Fame resume'

Last I checked this is about getting a signing together not a discussion about who is the better talent, or who will equate out to be more of an icon. Listen AI wasnt called "the Answer" by accident. I am a firm believer in Durant and have been since he was in high school. But lets be real right now. AI is a hof'er, Durant can and I expect will be, but that being said we just never know. I just want this signing to get done and am still in awe that there isnt enough interest. Lets all dig deep into our pockets and get this done, save the arguments for after they have happened.

oh and I am still in for a Jersey, and at least 2 photos
