it will sell out too. I'll just wait for the Luncheon or FanFest because I would love to have a perfect game item signed.

Yeah between the Perfect game and the new contract (doesn't exactly need to the money to sign after the massive extension) I figured it'd be like this. What is interesting is what Lincecum will be able to charge going forward given his struggles

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Timmy was awesome, so no matter how bad he gets he'll still charge an arm and a leg. Same with Cain, that one game will make him $100+ forever now. It's just the way our society rewards mediocrity these days.

Yeah, I knew it was going to be expensive, but I didn't think I was going to have to pay $180 to get my jersey signed.

Right I understand that Lincecum's prices don't go down, but I certainly think the number of people buying the tickets goes down too which generally leads to a guy doing fewer signings (not specific to Lincecum)

That's true, because the player most likely won't budge on his price, so promoters don't bring them in because they can't sell enough tickets to make any money.

The "elite" players make enough in their basic contracts and other assorted projects where a signing becomes not worth it to them. Thus in order for them to even do a signing they have to receive very large payments, which in turn causes prices to be higher. Basic supply and demand.

Agree that the price is absolutely ridiculous, but Cain has quietly been one of the most consistent pitchers of the past 7 or 8 years. Definitely better than mediocre
