Braves Alumni Weekend set for August 12-15 to benefit the Atlanta Braves Foundation

Braves Alumni Weekend is set for Friday, August 12 - Monday, August 15, and alumni including Steve Avery, Sid Bream, Tom Glavine, Marquis Grissom, David Justice, Fred McGriff, Dale Murphy, Phil Niekro, Otis Nixon, Greg Olson, John Smoltz and many more will take part in the weekend of festivities that will begin with Bobby Cox's induction into the Braves Hall of Fame and # Retirement Ceremony on Friday, August 12th. On Saturday, the Braves will celebrate the 20th Anniversary Reunion of the 1991 "World to First" Team and host a Braves Legends Baseball Game. On Friday and Sunday, Braves alumni will greet fans and sign autographs at stations around the ballpark, and on Monday, Braves alumni will tee up in the sixth annual Atlanta Braves Foundation Golf Classic at East Lake Golf Club.

•Bobby Cox Day - The Braves will honor their former manager on Friday, August 12 by inducting him into the Braves Hall of Fame and retiring his uniform number. The induction will take place at a mid-day luncheon at the Omni Hotel and the uniform number retirement will occur in a pre-game ceremony that night before the Braves take on the Chicago Cubs. A limited # of tickets are available for the Hall of Fame Luncheon by calling 404-614-2310. •Pregame Autograph Sessions with Braves Alumni - Braves alumni will greet fans and sign free autographs in and around Fan Plaza starting at 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, August 13th - Braves vs. Cubs at 7:10 p.m.
•Braves Legends Baseball Game - Fans will have the opportunity to see their favorite Braves don their uniforms again and take up their bats as Braves alumni will battle it out in a "Braves Legends Game" on the field at 5:30 p.m.
•1991 Team Reunion - To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 1991 "Worst to First" team that took on the Minnesota Twins in what has been called the Greatest World Series of All Time, the Braves will reunite the magical 1991 squad and honor them before the game.
Sunday, August 14th - Braves vs. Cubs at 1:30 p.m.***
•Pregame Autograph Sessions with Braves Alumni - Braves alumni will greet fans and sign free autographs in and around Fan Plaza before the game.
***The Sunday, August 14 game is eligible for an ESPN Sunday Night Baseball Selection, so game time is tentative until the August 14 selection has been made.
Monday, August 15th - Braves vs. Giants at 7:10 p.m.
•Atlanta Braves Foundation Golf Classic - Braves alumni will tee up for the Atlanta Braves Foundation on Monday morning on the links at East Lake Golf Club. The sixth annual Foundation Golf Classic will raise funds to benefit the Foundation's Grant Program. The non-profit arm of the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Braves Foundation actively supports community organizations and their programs within the metro Atlanta area. Since its inception in 1992, the Atlanta Braves Foundation has provided support to thousands of metro Atlanta based organizations and has contributed more than 3.15 million dollars in financial assistance to the community. Through the generous support of Braves fans, players, employees, and partners, the Atlanta Braves Foundation continuously strives to improve the quality of life for our youth.
