Why would anyone 50/50 someone like Cal Ripken? You can get his stuff everywhere, and a trade would produce a similar high quality autograph of someone else. It just doesn't make any sense.

Also just wanted to back up what sugarcult said. Particularly at a Barnes and Noble, there will be a handler, opening the book to the page, so there will be no opportunity for anything else to get signed.

Book signings are just for the book purchased at that particular store. Sometimes you can buy any book and other times you're limited to just buying the new book.

If anyone is interested in trading for Ripken or Schmidt, I have extra copies of the following:

Jimmy Carter Our Endangered Values
John Grisham The Last Juror
John Grisham The Broker

If its the kids book with his brother on baseball skills you can usually find one on ebay for $30 bucks or so and if you want it, it sure beats standing in line for ever! When he signed them in Rochester the line was like 6 hours long. in fact theres one on ebay with 3 days left for only19.99
