One of my biggest obscure targets has been former Tiger minor leaguer Pablo Arias. While we were at the complex in San Cristobal my contact pointed out one coach who has been with the Tigers for more than 10 years. I said hello and asked if he remembered Pablo and told me that Pablo lives in Bani and works with teens trying to get them signed. My contact has a friend in Bani so he called and after about 5 phone calls we were told he's always at the stadium in a small village just outside of Bani. We made the 45 minute drive out there and found Pablo working with a former Pirate minor leaguer named Juan Delisa (that's how it's pronounced but I don't know how to spell it) he was signed the same year as Alberto Lois, Pascual Perez and Eugenio Cotes. Pablo signed my three 2002 Topps Total cards and we chatted for awhile. He's a really nice guy and couldn't believe I came out there just to see him. We exchanged numbers and email addresses and promised to keep in touch. I'll do something with him in January.

DID YOU GET ME PABLO ARIAS????????????????????????????????????????
If so, I'm ecstatic! Never thought I'd get that dude. Only non-American I need in a 990 card set that I'm up over 950 on.
Now, if we can only get D Wells to sign recent cards and find the Daryl Kiles that he might have signed in the four days between when they hit the streets and he tragically died...
