Fans Edge Sports Spectacular July 16-18th Rosemont

Bummed about Garcon, was looking forward to getting him. Saw Otto cancelled too

I wonder if the free tanya harding inscription could read, "Here comes the pipe."

yeah $40 is pretty steep......though they seemed to be flocking around Cole Hamels tonight. hes married......hopefully he behaved

Someone deleted my post from last night. Oh well. Just a reminder, guys...there is a HUGE banner that reads SPORTS SHOW ----->

Went to the show on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday: Got Bednarik on a Goal Line Art Card, Jim Rice on a Red Sox mini, YA Tittle on a Giants mini, and Charley Taylor on a Redskins mini. Taylor was friendly as was Tittle. Bednarik was business like with me while Jim Rice hardly acknowledged me besides shaking my hand, but I knew that going in.
Sunday: Goat Lem Barney on a GLAC and then Barry Sanders on a Lions mini. Barney was very cool and engaging and I had a good experience with Sanders too. I was a person away when George Blanda came over and interrupted for 2-3 minutes. I didn't mind at all as I think its pretty cool to see the guys interact whether its Rodman and Hogan hanging out, Bradshaw and Earl Campbell sharing some laughs or Brad Maynard getting Dr. J's autograph. Sanders was a good experience for sure.

Overall: Hogan seemed to be the big winner on Saturday while Rodman did well with the crowd too. Cris Carter was a huge flop as his prices were HOF high without the induction yet. I worry that if he gets the call they won't bring him back since they lost money on him this weekend. Randle canceling didn't help as it didn't draw out Vikings fans. Conversely, it seemed that having Trammell, Whitaker, Barney and Sanders all combined to bring out Detroit fans to see them. Dr. J, Curt Schilling, and Barry Sanders all seemed to do well on Sunday. Dan Reeves didn't do much business nor did Dick Motta the day before. I guess coaches are a tough sell. This was the fewest amount of dealers I've seen in over 7 years so the economy is having a big impact along with possibly the CSA show last weekend and the National coming up. This show had huge crowds last year with he rollback guys but not this year. The autograph pavillion is still strong but there is less and less there if you are a buyer of cards or memorabilia.

Wishlist for November: George Brett, Jose Canseco, Tony Dorsett, Ronnie Lott, John Elway, and Raymond Berry. Scottie Pippen (who has been rumored) would be a big hit I believe too

Great recap, nbrock. I agree about seeing Maynard come over and introduce himself to Dr. J as being a cool thing to see. It is sad, though, when Dsean Jackson costs as much as Cris Carter.

Barry Sanders is in the same class as Jerry Rice, as truly appreciating his fans at paid signings.

I would like to see Canseco in the fall as well. My early prediction? Ernie Banks. Mr. "I only have 2 million dollars left" Pippen may be there? I bet he'd draw well. I wish someone like Jay Hilgenberg would be a VIP guest.
