Has anybody ever heard of the Goodwin League vs Drew League game? The roster is impressive, but I don't know if it's worth it, this is the first year I've heard of it. Here's the roster:

* Ty Lawson
* Gary Neal
* Michael Beasley
* Tyreke Evans
* DeMarcus Cousins
* Josh Selby
* Sam Young
* Donte Greene
* Baby "Shaq" Jones

* DeMar DeRozan
* Nick Young
* Dorrel Wright
* Brandon Jennings
* JaVale McGee
* Craig Smith
* Pooh Jeter
* Bobby Brown
* Marcus Williams

As with all summer leagues i'ts 50/50 on who shows up, ethese guys no show all the time. 2nd..it's in the middle of the ghettos. Not worth a couple of autographs to be honest. Usually at Berry Farms which is about as rough a neighborhood as it gets. You show up with items to get signed, you're liable to have eyes on you all the way out to your car (you have to park blocks away).

Darn it! wish this was held at one of my local gyms. Stevie francis has been, and same with some kids who play D1 in college. Wish it was held in a better area, if it really is in a bad part.

I know they are talking about palying it elsewhere, I wish they would just play it at AU or something, but all the names I've heard thrown around are in the middle of the ghettos as well, ie Anacostia, Takoma Park, etc..basically places that give DC the murder reputation. The "commish" of the league wants to keep it true to its roots and is pushing for this to be outside at Barry farms.

I'll tell my one story. Kobe and Shaq were there once to watch, not play. I figured if this is the one time to go, I'll go. So I drove to the middle of Anacostia and had to park 4 blocks away. So...when you walk by the projects, you are literally walking by "the wire" (though that is in b-more). VERY rough and lets just say I stood out and was being watched. Miles, the commish of the league and MC,is NOT a fan of autographs and gave me sh@# over the PA system for asking Kobe for an autograph and embarrassed the living crap out of me for asking. Also, when I went to go buy water, the nice lady told me if I ever came back to bring just enough money to buy water because if I brought more I'd be an easy target. So..not only did I not get the graph, I was embarrassed and scared all at the same time. I've never gone back.

So..no autograph, especially for guys like WAll who signs at the game, is worth going through that risk again.

Thanks for the advice guys. The report I read said it was being moved to Georgetown University, so I thought it might be a bit less sketchy to go, but after hearing they're not bi on autographs I don't think it's worth it just to get Wall and Cousins. Hopefully the lockout doesn't take too much of the season so I can get the UK players I still need.

It's not at G'town..last I heard they moved it to Spingarn or Roosevelt HS in Takoma Park. I think it's better that it's not in G'town. A lot of people on this board can back me up about G'town's security guard who travels with the team. He's a remnant of the old JT era and isn't a big fan of people approaching players on campus. He's miserable and watches over players inside and outside. Better that it's somewhere else...even if it's in the rough areas.
