Possible Signing - Randy "K" Myers

Being as how it is now late Oct when the signed supposedly might have taken place, and we haven't had an update in quite some time, is it safe to assume this signing will not be taking place???

Alan messaged me about a week ago saying its a dead deal. Not sure why he hasnt posted that here yet

He was in, or at least I was led to believe that from the dean of the school he was supporting.

Then all of a sudden I got an email saying Randy was not available. The offer on the table was $4,000 for 30 minutes.

The guy just flat out hates signing.

Ouch! $100 per minute more or less, and he won't do it. I had been told that during his playing days, he pocketed most of his meal money each day because he was such a tight wad. I'm guessing that we won't ever see him desperate for $$$ and needing to do signings. That really doesn't give a lot of hope for finishing my early 90's sets!!

Thanks for trying Alan.

When Randy was with the Reds he used to drive a 10 year old (or older) car. He was offered a lot of money at the time to do a Nasty Boys show. Dibble and Charlton both tried to convice Randy to do the show but he would not. I do think that Myers may do a show at some point in time, but it will take a lot of money. $4,000 is a significant amount of money to us, but not to someone who made over $40 million in his career. I think he is going to be like Mike Marshall, someone who you will have to pay $100,000 for 1,000 items which is what Bill Corcoran paid Marshall. And make no mistake, Myers is every bit as tough as Marshall was. He was ok in 87 and 88, gettable but tough in 89, and he pretty much shut it down in 1990.

Thanks for trying Alan.
