Twinsfest 2009

I've gone to TwinsFest the last two years. Forget about Mauer/Morneau. You buy general admission tickets to get in the dome, then they have autograph stations set up where different players sign. Some tables have just one guy some have 4-5 guys. You just have to get in the line you want as early as possible. It's pretty chaotic at first, as people line up outside the dome for hours (in January!), then when the doors open, you grab the program that lists where the tables are, and people RUN to the line they want. As the day goes on, it becomes less chaotic and pretty manageable. If you really want someone popular signing in the first time slot of a day, it can be pretty tough.

The cost for each table ranges from free, for the minor leaguers, to $25 for stars and Hall of Fame members. Some have additional charges for signing bats. Last year I got Molitor and Killebrew on bats for $50 each. You can also get mlb authentication.

They usually have the non-star, every day players 3-5 at a table for $10-$15, so for example, you might get Nick Punto, Scott Baker, Brendan Harris, Delmon Young and Matt Guerrier, all for $15.

Some names I have gotten there, other than current players, include Molitor, Killebrew, Carew, Oliva, Blyleven, Tom Kelly, Kent Hrbek, Dan Gladden, etc. Unfortunately Carew doesn't sign bats at the event.

The really nice thing for locals, is that you can trade in your TwinsFest ticket stubs for game tickets. I think TwinsFest tickets last year were $8 for adults, and $4 for kids. I traded those ticket stubs in for $21 upper club seats behind home plate for two different games. Since my two kids, wife and I attended two days, we spent $48 on TwinsFest tickets, and got $168 worth of game tickets. Sweet deal.

You can get Mauer and Morneau if you wait in line long enough. I got both last year.

They will list it on the website probably pretty soon.

If anyone is going and would like to help me, I need Molitor on a ball for my collection. Thanks! Just shoot me a pm.

I am willing to pay someone (within reason) if they could get me Joe Mauer on a 2008 All Star ball for my 2008 single signed All Star baseball set.

Of course I will send you the ball and pen, you just need to get it signed. If money is not your thing (though that's rarely the case) I can also offer to get items signed for you as well (of commensurate value of couse).

I could send 2 16x20s plus my fee for Mauer if anyone is interested.

TwinsFest 2009 - Jan 23-25

More than 50 current, former and future Twins players are expected to appear over the weekend --check back in the coming weeks for a complete list of Twins players who will be attending!

Returning to TwinsFest in 2009 is a three-dimensional model of the new Twins ballpark, Target Field, which will be on display throughout the event. The 5-foot by 5-foot model represents the most detailed depiction of what the new 40,000 seat ballpark will look like when it opens in 2010. Twins staff and architects will be on-hand to answer questions and explain the amenities in the ballpark. TwinsFest will also feature information on the Daktronics scoreboard, which will be installed at Target Field. The scoreboard will be the fourth largest in professional baseball, true High Definition and nine times larger than the existing scoreboards in the Metrodome.

Also on display at TwinsFest 2009 will be the Hall of Fame plaques of legends Kirby Puckett and Dave Winfield. This is a rare opportunity to view the plaques outside of their permanent location at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Additional TwinsFest highlights include tours of the Twins clubhouse, the Upper Midwest's largest baseball card and collectibles extravaganza, kids-only player Q & A sessions, player photo stations, a baseball skills area, youth baseball clinics as well as live and silent auctions. All paid admissions to TwinsFest will include a buy-one-get-one free coupon for an Upper Club ticket for a 2009 regular season home game (game restrictions will apply).

TwinsFest admission prices are $8 in advance for adults ($12 at the door) and $4 in advance for children 14 and under ($6 at the door). Tickets for TwinsFest 2009 will go on sale in the coming weeks--keep checking back for ticket onsale information.

TwinsFest, one of the largest team-run fan festivals in professional sports, is an annual fundraiser for the Minnesota Twins Community Fund. Since its inception in 1989, TwinsFest has raised more than $3.6 million for programs and organizations supported by the Twins Community Fund.

I could use some of the 80's guys, like Gladden, etc. I would be willing to cover your admission cost and some money for gas & your efforts. Just shoot me a PM once they list the names and I would let you know who I could use. I would send money for their graphs as well, obviously!

PS I know I could use Gardenhire as well.
