Astro finally post their Caravan schedule

Astros 2009 Caravan to visit 18 cities in 12 days beginning with stops in Houston area January 14-17
Stops include Habitat for Humanity home building project, tree planting at the state capitol, visits to schools and hospitals, and free autograph sessions at Academy Sports + Outdoors


HOUSTON -- The Houston Astros 2009 Winter Caravan starts next week with stops around Greater Houston (Jan. 14-17), including the Galveston area/NASA, Katy, The Woodlands, Sugar Land and Pearland. The tour kicks off with a special project that continues the Astros' assistance for those in need following Hurricane Ike. Astros employees along with players on the caravan will work to help build a house in Dickinson, TX, in conjunction with the Bay Area Habitat for Humanity. The Astros will also participate in youth clinics, tour NASA and visit several Houston area schools and hospitals. Free autograph sessions at Academy Sports + Outdoors locations will be open to Astros fans.

Following visits in and around Houston, the caravan will tour New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lake Charles, Louisiana (Jan. 19 and Jan. 21) and make stops throughout central and southern Texas (Jan. 20 - 28), including Beaumont, Corpus Christi, Victoria, Temple, College Station, Waco, Round Rock, Austin and San Antonio.

More than 30 Astros players, alumni, coaches and front office staff will take part in the 2009 Caravan stops. Some of the members of the Astros organization scheduled to participate in the 14-day tour include General Manager Ed Wade, Manager Cecil Cooper, current players Brandon Backe, Lance Berkman, Geoff Blum, Michael Bourn, Darin Erstad, Mike Hampton, Roy Oswalt, Hunter Pence, and Jose Valverde, along with former players Jeff Bagwell, Craig Reynolds and Shane Reynolds.
