Tristar Houston Show Jan 19-21 2007

With the prices that Tri-Star rapes people with, I don't blame anyone for going that route.

$39 for Hanley Ramirez? What a joke.

A few free autographs isn't going to send them out of business.

Yea i mean come on now, with the prices these companies are charging i cant blame anyone for doing that and i have done that before. (not actually going to the hotel but rather just getting them on there way out) Personally i dont feel that it is sleezy at all, what is sleezy is the prices that they are charging at these shows.

Lame Excuse

Guys, you don't have to pay the prices. Nobody is forcing you to get an autograph. If Target charges too much for a t shirt is it OK to steal it? That is basically your justification. The way prices come down is nobody buys the graph. As long as people are willing to pay for the autograph, then the prices will be what they are. Tri Star is a business, they are in this to make money. The players want to be compensated for their time and travel. I bet you would all be surprised at what Tri Star actually makes per autograph once you factor in all the costs involved in putting on a show. The biggest problem today is players make too much money playing the game. They don't need the extra income. Companies have to pay Mega Bucks to even get these guys there. Did anyone ever wonder why Roger Clemens doesen't sign at the local 30 table fire hall show? The good thing about Tri Star and MAB is they get the players, they give you the opprtunity to meet and get an autograph for a price. You decide to pay it or not to pay it. If you don't want to pay it that is up to you. But to sneak out back after the show is a scum ball move.

HOw much is Prime Time Sanders, I need him in one of my sets?

Thanks

JJ

Prime time is $99 and 25 for "primetime" inscription.

As for Captian23 i guess we are gonna have to agree to disagree. I respect your opinion but i would never say that doing that is a "scum ball move," and personally that kind of offends me.... to each is own i guess

Good grief, I guess that's one card in the set that won't get signed.

If Target charges too much then you shop elsewhere. If Target is the only place selling t-shirts but they give them away free in the parking lot then how is that stealing or a scumball move?

Tri Star is not Giving away the Autograph, the players are. And if they said no then there would be no issue. You got the point about the prices. If you don't think the T Shirt is worth the price you don't buy it. If you went to the back door of Target and a Target employee was giving out T Shirts that they did not pay for is that right? I just don't think it is morally right to stake out the back door of a show that is charging for autograph for a freebie because you think the price is too high. Tri Star is Paying these guys to sign, they are paying for the trip to the venue and they are paying the expenses of the player for the day. As I see it they have paid for the Product, in this case the players autograph. Do you think it is right that they get the benefit of the player signing? Why would anyone pay for the Autograph if the player signs for free at the back door?

Lets all be honest, autograph collecting has changed over the last few years. Players, especially current ones sign far less then they ever have. We are all going to have to make a judgment if we should pay for an autograph or just not get it. For those willing to pay the access is awesome. It really comes in handy if you are trying to get something special signed and you want a good clean signature in a protected environment. If the promoters do not make money this opportunity will be lost.

We can disagree, if we all thought the same way then this would be a boring board.

Happy Holidays!
