Thank you John. Safe travels home!

Thanks, I'm leaving tomorrow night for Florida and there's a storm headed this way so I'm not looking forward to the flight.

I called Carty about signing a month before my trip started. I told him I had 100 items (X) and he agreed to do it for Y dollars. When I showed up to his office he wanted Y + 25%. I told him I wanted to do it for our original price and he said no and said I could leave. I agreed to Y +25% (just to get everything done for people). As we were going thru all the items, he kicked back 15 and said he didn't want to sign them. After we were done, I paid him for Y + 25% minus 15 items and he tried to strongarm me for the money for all 100 items. He's a big guy and his son is even bigger.

And I forgot to mention that as I was leaving he hit me up to make a donation to the charity that he runs.

I got extra signed cards of everyone listed below, email me if you need anything. I'll sell for the same price as mentioned in the thread:

Jesus Alou, Melido Perez, Pascual Perez, Mario Guerrero, Juan Castillo, Juan Bernhardt, Denny Gonzalez, Sergio Valdez, Andres Thomas, Julio Ramirez, Wil Tejada, Frank Taveras, Luis de los Santos, Ramon Caraballo, Mel Rojas, Luis Mercedes, Domingo Cedeno, Andres Santana, Rafael Ramirez, Carmen Castillo, Cecilio Guante and Geronimo Berroa

????

What's secret? I thought you were paying the players what you are charging people?

I've been biting my tongue on this comment but now that my trip is over I'll make a comment. Let me tell you in terms you might understand......

If McDonald's buys a case of 48 hamburger patties for $24 (50 cents each) they don't sell the Quarter Pounder w/Cheese (finished product) for 50 cents. There are a lot of other costs involved like employees, rent, utilities, taxes, etc.

In my case it's the same way I have to pay for plane flights, hotel rooms, rental cars, a driver, my contact and after all that I still need to pay the guy to sign. If you think I'm out here getting stuff signed for free you're kidding yourself. Do you think Henry Rodriguez or Ramon Martinez is going to sign 50 cards and photos for free? Or Pascual Perez is going to sign 125 items for free? Or Frank Taveras is going to do 200 items for free? Yep, those were the quantities I had for those guys. It's amazing how many people still need these guys and I'm happy to say I got everyone's stuff done for a reasonable price.

I'm a nice guy, I'm a successful government contract manager and I'm always more than willing to help fellow collectors but if you think I'm going to pay to get your cards signed, you're joking.

I appreciate the effort for no more cost than is involved. It's very likely for my 2001 SP set I'd have ended up just short the Julio Ramirez at the end of the day. For just a few bucks I can complete my set. The only other 3 guys I need are still in baseball. These are guys that there really isn't a lot of access to. I have no problem with the money made for your time and appreciate all the efforts and willingness to seek Ramirez out for those of us who needed him.
