november 2011 suntimes show

nbrock624 - I was just wondering who they could bring in to turn your opinion of this show. I think with Maddux, Holmes, Frazier, LaRussa, Lamotta, Urlacher, Smoltz and all the rollback guests, it is a pretty great show and it is only Aug. so maybe they could add somemore great guests. I was just wondering who you think would be a great guest because it sounds like you have been to alot of the Sun Times show. I have not been to alot of the Sun Times shows in the past three years.

WOW!! This is looking like a great show. I also would like to see maybe some more boxers - Tommy Hearns / Lennox Lewis or maybe from baseball Jim Thome / Justin Verlander or from Football Jack Lambert or Jim Kelly. What does everybody else think? I think it is a great show already or until we see the prices.

vanteddy

dont tease me with lenox lewis

Pittgrad0214 - I think he "lenox lewis" would be great - don't you. I like boxing, so the more the merry, but who do you think they could add to the lineup?

I think there are a ton of football HOF'ers they could explore that haven't been here too recently. I think they hit the niche sports ok and there are plenty of baseball HOF'ers (mostly retreads though). Maddux and Smoltz are the only real standout guests to me. I also think that they really need to pursue active baseball players since this is the only time they can get guys nationally to come to a show. Thinking along the lines of the Lincecums, Bautistas, Votto/Bruce, etc. They've had Kershaw/Heyward/Longo in recent years as good examples of the type of active talent they can bring in. But really, its foolish to ignore football guys when it's the number one sport going and has a huge collecting base. I've mentioned guys before like Marcus Allen, Jack Lambert, Ozzie Newsome, the new class, and many others that haven't been here in the last few shows like Barry Sanders has as the only FB HOF'er

I am shocked that Richard Dent is not in the lineup but he must prefer selling his items through his website, or be too expensive for anyone to bring in. I wish there were more football guys also, but I think the schedule doesn't work out well for many. As GM, Newsome isn't going to miss a potential Ravens game for a signing and a lot of the other football players get paid for some form of commentary that likely prevents them from making appearances (Marino, Deion, Ditka, Irvin, Singletary, Faulk) etc.

Looking at past lineups, the November show has always been more baseball heavy and March football heavy. All based on when seasons end. Chicago hasn't had baseball all year so I personally dont care about many of the baseball guests. I still think they will add some more baseball names, both current and retired players, but Mounted's theme has always been geared to baseball for this show.

do you live in the Chicago area? I think Dent is doing a free signing this Satruday for Goodwill in Rosemont, well not technically "free" you do need to bring a donation

You are right about Newsome and guys like Fouts, Dierdorf, etc. who announce. But, they did have Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Jim Brown, Tony Dorsett, and Ronnie Lott last year and Dorsett/Lott hadn't been around for awhile. So while the November show has plenty of baseball, they've had great football players too in the past
