*****UPDATE******
As some of you may or may not know, the Carolina Panthers have Steve
Smith as one of their player representatives for the bargaining of the
new terms/conditions of the CBA. As such, even though the owners have
already voted, the players are still needed to vote on the new CBA
this week.
I've been in constant contact with his agent throughout this whole
weekend. As of now, we are still holding out hope that Steve will be
back in time today to do this signing. However, it's not certain.
And if we are unable to do it today, the agent has us immediately
scheduled to complete this signing as soon as possible. He has
informed me training camp would be starting up very soon, but that it
would be no problem working this signing in with training camp if it
takes that long (which he doubted it would take that long to complete
this signing).
I apologize in advance for the delay but this whole CBA deal has
thrown us all a curve ball. I don't think anyone anticipated it
prolonging this whole signing as much as it has--but it's been out of
my control. I'm doing my absolute very best here and should know
hopefully within the next couple of hours or so what's going on. In
any case, I've got my car packed, items marked and ready for
autographs, and a camera ready to go in the chance that I receive a
call to get down to Charlotte.
I will continue to keep everyone posted and updated with all the
progress. Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding.
