I liked it better when you had 3 free signers per day. I did VIP twice with very different levels of success. Mine were Jim Brown (great) and Anthony Carter (not good). One concern would be that you'd have to go all three days as if you show up on Saturday and your guy was on Friday. The other thing is that with so many ND guys I'd be scared as hell I'd end up with one of them. All in all, I wouldn't probably do it now as I don't believe you have as equal of a chance of getting Peyton or Montana as Chris Zorich (I have no proof of that feeling though)
Like nbrock, I've done it a few times but that was 5 years ago when you also got some decent 3 free guys along with it that you could go through their lines as many times as you liked. I was pretty lucky on who my big free guy was each time. Whitey Ford was the best, Frank Thomas, and Jack Morris. The year I got Whitey, my buddy got Bret Saberhagen....he was naturally pretty pissed lol.
I would not do it for this show. I have done it a few times in the past when there was many more FREE VIP Signers. I think the pulls I had were Jared Allen, Frank Robinson and last show I pulled Vlad Guerrero to name a few. I would personally not do it.
I used to pass on Friday night and just go Saturday and Sunday in years past when I bought the VIP. Simple reason was it was to hard for me to get there and they usually had no one any good on Friday nights. If you happen to pull a free tix from Friday night they used to switch it out for a Saturday or Sunday tix. Seeing you weren't there Friday night. I seem to remember them swapping out the tickets in the bags after Friday night. Don't know if this is still the case since fanatics took it over. But mounted always did that.
vip package is a huge ripoff compared to what it used to be. used to have 6 autograph guests, 1 or 2 per time in line, unlimited, until they cut it off for time or larry wanted to get his crap signed. and you got the random also. big ripoff now. 4 people we carpool together, no one will get the vip again untill they change it.
this is the first time in almost 20 years im not going to the show. the national is having alot of these same guys, fisk and rice maybe 10 bucks more, national addmision is higher but they do offer a usually good vip.
I went Saturday for The Big Unit and I had ticket #39 buying it less than a week beforehand. Not a ton of tables. Similar in size to the March/November shows of the last 5 years. It seemed like Jameis sold very well and Mariota sold a ton. 225+ at least (I saw a 225 ticket from that morning). A lot of people got both guys and lots of different Oregon minis and full sizes. I didn't hang around the autograph area a ton but it didn't seem anyone else did especially well. Pedro seemed to draw people though.
Kelvin Benjamin and Sammy Watkins cancelled for Sunday which would suck if you were going for those guys.
