October trip to Dominican Republic

Next we headed back to the capital to see Rafael Soriano who was more than happy to sign for me. He told me that I didn't have to come all the way to Santo Domingo just to get him to sign.

Wow that's not the Rafael Soriano I remember. Are you going to do another signing with him in the future?

You haven't happened across Alex Taveras this trip?

I got Alex to sign for me the same day I got Santiago Ramirez. They all live up north so I hit them up on the same day.

Most dudes will sign for me since I'm paying.

Preliminary list for January:

Pedro Guerrero-$20 per item

Luis Polonia-$15 cards, $20 flats, $25 premium items, $40 multi-signed Yankees (nothing bigger than a magazine)

Juan Lara-$40

Julio Santana-$10 plus one extra card for Julio
Dario Veras-$10
Manny Aybar-$10
Luis Saturria-$10
Marino Santana-$10

If there's enough interest:
Mendy Lopez, Abraham Nunez (both)

I had a chance to talk with Luis Polonia last night to work out some details about his signing. He's a savvy businessman and knows that he's needed by Yankees fans, he told me how much he used to get paid for signings in NY, in his words, "by that guy Brandon who has an autograph company." He'll do cards and premium items with no problems and we set up the fee. He really doesn't like to do multi player Yankees items but I explained to him that's the #1 reason why I want to do a signing with him. He gave me a price and I said I would see what I could do.

Also, I talked to Lara's cousin (who is sort of like his agent in DR) and we set up the price for January. The Indians have paid for almost all of his medical bills but they don't pay for everything so he doesn't mind to sign as a way to help with expenses. I have to give a cut the cousin and give money to Juan so it's not cheap.

Notes from this trip:

First autograph: Jose DeLeon
First player to ask me to be their agent: Julio Ramirez
Best with a Sharpie: Geronimo Berroa-he could sign 500 items with the same Sharpie
Worst with a Sharpie: Andres Thomas-will flatten the tip on the first signature
Easiest to get a hold of: Andres Thomas-he called my hotel 3 times in the first day I was here
Hardest to get a hold of: Cesar Geronimo
Toughest to deal with: Neifi Perez
Longest wait for a signer: Miguel Dilone made me wait until after his dominoes game was over
Oddest request: Carmen Castillo asking me to bring him a pair of Oakleys next time
Other requests/demands: Cecilio Guante wants a minimum $500 signing fee next time (but he'll sign whatever I bring)

Last autograph: Wilfredo Tejada
