I read this on another board... sadly, I don't think the money went to his favorite "charity", unless by charity you mean your pocket and agent's pocket...

<<<Brantley's agent was there and said he does not like signing autographs. Said he will usually sign 1 time inside and thats about it. Also will not sign one of his Bowman cards because 'he didnt get paid for it' and the agent set up a 'joke' private signing with it for $25 and people actually paid it so that turned him even more off on signing it if people were willing to pay that.>>>

F'ing tool...

Wow, that's crazy. I'm all for players getting paid fairly for autograph signings, but that's such a terrible attitude to have. "Someone screwed me once, so now I'm going to screw everybody."

And again, I ask, why do we keep Kusnick around on this board?

Even more reason not to:

"... I used to be one of those paparazzi-type people trying to get autographs of all the minor league guys when I was a kid, 14, 15 years old. I never really cared too much about getting autographs really, but it gave me a really good venue and vehicle to talk to pro athletes and practice talking to pro athletes without getting star struck."

That was my post actually. He said that it started out as a joke because he thought noone would pay it but when people started sending them in the money they went with it and it did go to charity.

my bad buck :) still pretty s**tty.... thank God he plays a sport where "fans" have enabled players to make money for years. ONe day I truly wish a game boycott would come about that not one fan entered the turnstile. The team would get the season ticket revenue but every other stream would be cut off. I would love to see ESPN carry that game.

no problem...re-reading it I could see how it was taken that way...I do kinda have to agree that I couldnt believe people would pay 25$ to get the card signed either...I could definately see the 'boycott' happening some day to some degree but don't know how much it would change

Generates controversy, controversy generates site traffic which generates revenue. Look how many hits this thread alone has generated. In fact anything with the agent's name or clients generates a lot of hits. I wouldn't kick off a member that made me money either.

I would like to see a receipt from the charity.

Ultimately what it boils down to is this....he is only one member. The people who want him gone need to speak up. Alan runs this site like a business - and his focus is not on what is in the best interest of the hobby. I would imagine when the day is done that Alan would want to keep the 50 people that dont like him (and the fees associated with that) as opposed to him keeping the "agent" and lose those 50 members to another site.

I mean, seriously....this dude encourages his clients NOT TO SIGN. What part of this do you not understand???? How may freaking times do we have to beat this dead horse until something is done?
