Well since Michael is getting paid probably at least 10x the sum of money he is holding out for to sign the Bowman 08, wouldn't it make sense for him to sign it now?

I think I'll just wait until he is out of baseball if I want to get it signed. Of course then I'll raz him about how he used to be. I've seen much bigger "can't miss" prospects "miss".

I just got around to reading your post - I must have forgot about this topic.

Its not that 5 bucks is a tremendous amount of money - heck - I took a client to lunch today and our tab was over 100 bucks. My beef is that a player will only sign a certain card if you put money in his hand. Its no secret that I dont think paid signings are a good idea ( with a few minor exceptions - Frank Williams, Drew Henson UDSPTP). Players talk - word will spread - and the next thing you know - guys wont sign their Bowman or Just or whatever because they know some guys need them to finish a set and will pay for the graph. They get paid to be on the card and they will get paid to sign it for us. THEY WILL BE DOUBLE DIPPING, essentially.

Would it be ok with you if I continue in this hobby, without paying for autographs?
Sure, you can do whatever you want.. I could not care any less if you pay $500 dollars for a Tom Brady, or $5 dollars for this dude..

Fact of the matter is, YOU want something from this person.. He's not walking up to you and asking you for anything.. It's obviously his right to do whatever he wants.. I understand how that's frustrating for some people, but I also understand and respect the fact that it's their choice... Personally, I hate it when I'm working on a set, and there's sometimes that player who gets traded who won't sign cards of their former team (Jermey Guthrie comes to mind)-- But, it's their right, and they can do what they want..

I live in the city, I get asked for change multiple times from homeless people daily.. Now, being the nice guy that I am, I usually will fork over my extra change or a couple bucks depending on the scenario..Then again, if I didn't want to, I certainly don't have to...Nonetheless, it does get annoying.. I could only imagine what it's like to be a player, and to have people constantly shoving memorabilia in your face or whining because you didn't get them or complaining because you only signed one for them...

I know that is totally your choice to give them money or not, but most of them use pan handling this as a ploy to make money. In Memphis one of the news stations followed "homeless" people around and they were making as much as $60/hour - tax free. Then after a few hours of pan handling they would go home to their modest house in a decent neighborhood. Of course some had serious drug and alcohol problems and were spending it all on that, but the ones who were doing it for a living were what amazed me most. If I have food or water I'll give it away sometimes, but never money.

We still dont have enough items to do the signing but we are close so I am extending this.

LAST CALL!

Also, Jim Munstermen, dont know your User ID here - you sent in 3 of the new 2008 Bowmans but only paid $15. It was $20 per card. Please PayPal me the difference or PM me that you want me to return everything to you.
