Ex-Rays Prospect Toe Nash, who needs him?

Jim, I threw a # out there. I dont know what the final $ would be or if even we could do it while he's in jail. I am treading lightly because they are actually trying to get him out on early parole. They requested a hearing 4 months ago but in Louisiana, things move super slow. They have my info and said they will get back with me once they figure out a proper way to do it without making it worst for him (ie: getting in trouble for signing autographs while he is supposed to be speaking with lawyers).

But at least I have a lifeline. When he's out, which according to them they hope is by the end of this year if all goes well, we can do something like 100 items for $1000. That's $10 per. Is he worth it? Probably not but we all need the dude to complete our sets. I need him, Brett Myers (which might as well be dead), Joe Carter and Tankersley or Beckett to sign my Nolan Ryan card. I have Chen coming in a buy.

Hey Alan
Is Toe worth it? Absolutely. Especially at $10 per. How much Toe stuff is out there- not much. He is at least 100 times harder than most of the guys out there, especially on anything that was issued after that 1st summer he played in Princeton. Likely not a Hall of Famer, but a major cog in finishing 01 topps traded, centennial, and a couple of others. I'm in- would prefer not $20 per, but I'm in.

My name is Chris and I' m an autograph collector.

I'm like the others--I'd pay $10. If I had a better chance to finish the Centennial set (not counting DiMaggio), I'd pay more but I doubt I ever finish that one.

FYI--I tried getting Tankersley to sign the front or back of the card with Ryan several times and he always refused.

$20 might sound like a lot...but if toe got signed by a random appy team this august, i'd happily hop in my car, drive an hour+ each way, pay for a $6 ticket, ect. as i'd be thinking i probably wouldnt have a lot of opertunities to ever get him
what frustrates me about spring training is that i spend all this time and $ chasing players i then sometimes end up seeing all year long 1 minute from my house...toe (or ryan anderson) is not going to be showing up again anytime soon

True, but then you could probably get him on multiples, rather than $20 a pop. Not to mention any other players/coaches on the team(s).

Like many others before me, I'm in for a few if the price is able to come down.

Not to be a wet blanket (again)...but what happens when all of this is set up - everything has the green light - the cards are shipped down there - and they are "signed" by his cellmate? Or the guard? Or is Alan going to have one of those visits....ahem, private signings? Will the Sharpie be used to get high? So many questions.....

I am not going to hate on this one too bad - at least its not Chase Wright, Mike Burgess, etc....Toe has been and will probably always be very difficult to get - at least until he works at the BK down the street from a site member. But, I respect you guys that are trying to finish sets. Its just not my cup of tea.

Hi, my name is Brian Flam and I......<looks down, shuffles feet> collect autographs, too.

I'm going through the agent who represented him. There wont be some "cellmate" signing shiat.

If it happens, it happens. There are a handful of people who need him to complete their sets and they are the ones this message if for. Anyone else, this aint your cup of tea and you really just need to move onto one of the other 400,000 posts.

Isnt that what I said Alan? Loosen up a little bit, man. I am not trying to kill this signing - I thought part of your rules was for the potential private signing to be open for discussion until it is "official"? Regardless - it was more a commentary on my part about how crazy we all are (generally, as a whole) - I mean, jumping through hoops to send cards to JAIL. Sitting in the rain to get the guy that is hitting 220 just to finish your team set, letting Tony Sanchez walk right by because you have nothing for him, etc, etc, etc. Loosen up my man. We still need to meet up one night in Frederick or Hagerstown. I will buy you a beer.

Yes, we are crazy. I remember the obsession JBSouth and I had vividly with a trip to DA Hood in Chicago to track down 1992 Upperdeck Minor Leaguer Clifton Garrett. We drove straight into the ghetto in the early afternoon knocking on doors to find him. People thought we were the police and call me crazy but I never gave it a thought about how we probably were a lil out of our element there.

Picture 2 white college guys going into a 99% black, drug and crime laced area of Chi-town. But we are still alive and graphing. LOL!
